In April 2013, the city of West, Texas, experienced an explosion at the West Fertilizer Company, laying destruction to much of the town. In its wake, opportunities for restoration have brought back hope to the small town, especially for the high school. As a sub consultant on the project, Pacheco Koch provided landscape architecture, civil engineering, and land surveying services, including complete site design for both temporary and new facilities. The $3.8-million West High School spans 55 acres and includes plazas, pedestrian facilities, landscape, irrigation, sports facilities, and parking.
